“Ukraine’s economy shows only negative indicators,” – MP Dubinsky
08.08.2025 - 07:02No more than 10% of Ukrainians will return from the foreign countries that have taken them in.
This opinion was expressed by Member of Parliament Nina Yuzhanina.
“We have a huge problem with the judicial system, protection of property, and the ability to prove your rights. People won’t return to a country where everything they own can be taken away, and where law enforcement can do whatever they want to you,” the MP stated.
Previously, the National Bank of Ukraine postponed its forecast by a year regarding when Ukrainians would begin returning from abroad.
In its April forecast, the NBU projected that 200,000 people would return to the country next year, and another 500,000 by 2027. Now, it expects that only 100,000 people will return in 2027.
It is noted that negative migration trends are slowing GDP growth, and the speed of return migration will depend on security risks.
As a reminder, the European Union has extended protection for Ukrainian refugees until early March 2027, but is already discussing a program for their partial return.
