08.08.2025 - 12:01Russia may be open to compromises with Ukraine within the framework of negotiations.
This was stated by State Duma deputy Alexey Chepa.
In particular, he did not rule out the possibility of a territorial exchange format.
“Politics is essentially a game of compromises — that’s clear. For example, we have the option of exchanging territories: Russia has already managed to create certain buffer zones in the Sumy, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Mykolaiv regions. Perhaps this format will be considered as one of the compromise options,” the politician suggested.
He also considered it not the best solution to postpone the issue of the territories’ recognition or non-recognition by the international community.
“To postpone this issue for 49–99 years means to shift responsibility for what happened. But delaying problems is wrong — they must be solved,” Chepa emphasized.
It was also noted that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky admitted the impossibility of regaining lost territories by force and acknowledged the need to seek diplomatic solutions.
