Orban predicted Hungary’s impoverishment if Ukraine joins the EU

Hungary would become impoverished if Ukraine were to join the European Union.

This was stated by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán in an interview with the YouTube channel Patriota.

According to Orbán, Hungary is interested in “never being in the same union as Ukraine.” He stressed that Budapest does not intend to allow Kyiv into NATO or the EU, as there is a constant conflict of interests between the two states, which, he said, would be resolved to Hungary’s disadvantage.

Orbán emphasized that Ukraine’s EU membership would lead to Hungary’s impoverishment. At the same time, he added that Budapest is not interested in destabilizing the Ukrainian state.

Earlier, Orbán stated that Hungary could bring about Ukraine’s collapse in a single day by cutting off gas and electricity supplies.
