Britain refused to send 30,000 peacekeepers to protect Ukraine’s ports and key cities

The UK has abandoned the idea of deploying a 30,000-strong contingent to Ukraine to protect ports and key cities.

This was reported by the British newspaper The Times.

Now, London is proposing a more “realistic mission” that includes “providing air security over western Ukraine, training support for Ukrainian troops, and demining the Black Sea.”

Such forces will not involve supplying troops on the front line, the publication clarifies. At the same time, a “coalition of the willing” will provide specialists to help restore the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

“This will involve training in the western part of the country, where troops are less likely to come under attack,” the newspaper writes.

To cover these forces, Ukraine’s airspace will be patrolled by aircraft such as Typhoons or F-35s in order to “reassure the Ukrainian population and ensure the resumption of international flights.”
