14.08.2025 - 10:31The meeting in Alaska between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump will begin at 10:30 p.m. Kyiv/Moscow time with a one-on-one conversation attended only by interpreters.
This was announced at a briefing by Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov.
“It is planned that everything will start tomorrow, August 15, at about 11:30 a.m. local time with a conversation between Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin and Donald Trump. This conversation will take place in a one-on-one format, naturally with interpreters present,” Ushakov said.
According to him, the summit will be held at the Elmendorf-Richardson military base in Anchorage, and the meeting’s agenda has already been agreed upon.
Accompanying Putin will be Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Defense Minister Andrey Belousov, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov, Presidential Special Envoy for Investment and Economic Cooperation with Foreign Countries Kirill Dmitriev, and presidential aide Ushakov himself.
Ushakov added that the length of the talks between Putin and Trump will depend on “how the discussion goes.”
Delegation-level negotiations will follow in a “5 on 5” format, meaning that from the U.S. side there will also be administration members: Pete Hegseth, Marco Rubio, and Scott Bessent.
According to Ushakov, the sides will discuss not only Ukraine, although it will be the central topic.
After the negotiations, Trump and Putin will hold a joint press conference. Therefore, statements from the presidents can be expected during the night in Kyiv time.
Meanwhile, a special Il-76 aircraft departed from Moscow to Anchorage. Telegram channels speculated that Putin was already on his way to tomorrow’s meeting with Trump, but the state outlet TASS clarified that the plane may have been carrying an advance team responsible for preparing the summit.
Yesterday it was reported that Washington would temporarily lift sanctions on financial transactions necessary for organizing the Trump–Putin meeting.
