15.08.2025 - 05:03U.S. President Donald Trump has once again stated that after meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, he will meet with him and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
The White House chief made this announcement while speaking with journalists.
“Tomorrow we have a meeting with President Putin. I think it will be a good meeting, but the more important one will be the second meeting we are planning. We will be meeting with President Putin, President Zelensky, myself, and possibly some European leaders — or maybe not. I don’t know if it will be very important. We’ll see what happens. And I think President Putin will agree to peace. I think President Zelensky will agree to peace. We’ll see if they can get along,” Trump said.
The politician added that if the meeting with Putin goes badly, it will end very quickly.
“I don’t think the summit in Alaska is a reward for Putin. Everyone is to blame for the war,” he said.
Trump noted that he considers it more likely that his talks with Putin will end successfully, putting the chances of failure at 25%. The U.S. leader also confirmed that he is ready to impose sanctions if the meeting ends unsuccessfully. He said the issue will be “a dispute over borders and land.”
At the same time, Trump expressed doubt that it would be possible to achieve an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine following his meeting with Putin.
