In the U.S., it was stated that Russia is “ready to make concessions on five regions of Ukraine”
18.08.2025 07:01U.S. President Donald Trump may completely abandon Ukraine if the country’s leader Volodymyr Zelensky does not accept his terms and refuses to make concessions.
This opinion was expressed by the Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia.
Journalists suggested that if Zelensky rejects Trump’s plan, he risks being expelled from the Oval Office in front of television cameras. They also recalled that six months ago Washington blocked the delivery of military aid and halted intelligence sharing with Kyiv in response to a breakdown during negotiations.
“A new quarrel could become the perfect pretext for Trump to accuse Zelensky of not wanting peace and to completely abandon Ukraine,” the article noted.
Earlier, it was reported that German Chancellor Friedrich Merz had given Zelensky several tips on how to communicate with Trump in order to avoid another scandal at the White House.
It should be recalled that on February 28, Zelensky traveled to Washington for a meeting with Trump. The talks became tense. Trump voiced numerous grievances against Zelensky, while U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance accused him of disrespect and ingratitude. Following the clash between the presidents, the signing ceremony for an agreement was canceled, and Zelensky was forced to leave the White House.
