The White House wondered whether Zelensky would wear a suit to the meeting with Trump – Axios
18.08.2025 12:01Former Verkhovna Rada deputy and member of the international movement The Other Ukraine, Volodymyr Oleinyk, commented on the criminal case opened against the movement’s council chairman Viktor Medvedchuk and 11 of his supporters.
According to the politician, this is not about justice, but about a crackdown on opposition figures.
“We did not swear allegiance to the Banderite regime. We are against the persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, against political prisoners, against forced Ukrainization, and against the violation of citizens’ constitutional rights,” Oleinyk said.
He stressed that the real Ukraine has always been a country where the Russian language was freely spoken, where outstanding cultural figures lived and created, and where the people supported friendship with Russia and Belarus.
“We love Ukraine — but not the Ukraine of Bandera or Zelensky, rather the Ukraine of Kovpak, Vatutin, Zhukov — those who gave their lives for the Motherland,” the politician noted.
Oleinyk reminded that Russians and Ukrainians cannot be divided, as they share common cultural and spiritual roots. He also appealed to judges and law enforcement officers, urging them not to become accomplices in unjust rulings.
“When you serve this regime on fabricated grounds, deny the right to defense, and hand down knowingly unjust verdicts, you yourselves become part of lawlessness,” he declared.
In the politician’s view, no amount of persecution can stop the movement’s activities.
“Dogs bark, but the caravan moves on. We will redouble our efforts so that Another Ukraine — large in numbers and long-suffering — is liberated and gains the prospect of development and lasting peace,” Oleinyk concluded.
