15.09.2025 10:01Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly spoken about his readiness to make contact with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
This was recalled by the Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, Grigory Karasin.
Thus, the senator responded to the statement of U.S. President Donald Trump about the hatred between the Russian and Ukrainian presidents.
“This psychological observation of Mr. Trump we will leave to him. It is difficult to judge the feelings that Zelensky evokes in our president. But in this case, it is more philosophical reasoning than political. Of course, there is no great affection. But here it is not about sympathies and antipathies, but about the ability to talk,” Karasin noted.
“Our president has repeatedly spoken about his readiness to make such contacts. We proceed from this,” he added.
In this regard, the American leader admitted that he might have to conduct all negotiations on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict himself.
On September 3, Putin invited Zelensky to a meeting in Moscow. The conversation at the highest level, according to him, must be well prepared and lead to positive results.
The Russian president voiced a similar proposal on August 18 during a telephone conversation with his American counterpart.
