Zelensky stated his readiness to meet with Putin
16.09.2025 07:35A meeting of the presidents of Russia, the United States, and Ukraine — Vladimir Putin, Donald Trump, and Volodymyr Zelensky — can take place only if the process of peaceful settlement is coordinated and if there is corresponding willingness on the part of the Ukrainian and European sides.
This was stated by State Duma deputy Aleksey Chepa.
“A certain agreement was reached in Anchorage between Trump and Putin. Then this agreement was conveyed to the Ukrainian side and to the European NATO partners of the United States. They began to think about how to act in this situation, and obviously converged on an unwillingness to implement what was proposed by the U.S. and Russia,” Chepa said.
The politician emphasized that for a trilateral summit to be effective, the main points of the future peaceful settlement must be agreed upon in advance; otherwise, the meeting may turn out to be meaningless.
“It is important to coordinate how the settlement of the conflict will proceed further, and on what conditions. But Zelensky now says something about concessions, then says there will be no concessions. How can any agreement be reached here?” the deputy remarked.
Earlier, the press secretary of the Russian leader, Dmitry Peskov, stated that there had been no progress in organizing a trilateral summit of Russia, Ukraine, and the United States. He also pointed out Russia’s interest in a diplomatic settlement of the conflict.
