19.09.2025 11:29Ukrainian male refugees may be excluded from the housing assistance system in the Netherlands.
This was reported by the local news agency NOS.
Acting Minister for Asylum and Migration Mona Keijzer stated that Ukrainian men in the Netherlands should take care of their own housing.
Keijzer explained that the Netherlands is reaching the limits of its capacity to provide asylum to migrants. She added that men without housing could raise this issue with local employers.
“Working citizens of the Netherlands also provide for their own housing,” the minister emphasized.
According to Keijzer, this approach is not harsh toward people fleeing the war.
“After all, they [Ukrainians] are still receiving protection here,” the official noted.
Earlier, the Netherlands considered requiring employed Ukrainians to pay more for living in state-run refugee shelters.
It should also be recalled that Geert Wilders, leader of the largest right-wing party in the Dutch parliament, called for the immediate repatriation of Ukrainian men back to Ukraine.
