22.09.2025 06:32After Poland’s decision to cancel benefits for unemployed Ukrainians, the Office of the President of Ukraine is considering providing state support to those who return from Poland to Ukraine.
According to her, the plan involves creating a system of social assistance that would include temporary housing, humanitarian, medical, and social support, as well as organizational and logistical help during the return process.
Vereshchuk stressed that life in Poland remains difficult for elderly people, those with disabilities, single mothers with children, and other vulnerable groups.
“We also cannot ignore the gradual tightening of requirements for Ukrainians’ stay in Poland. This is especially felt by those who are unable to work. Therefore, we must prepare Ukraine’s social support system in advance,” she noted.
As a reminder, the Polish Senate previously passed without amendments a bill that keeps the “800+” payment only for working Ukrainians.
Before that, Polish President Karol Nawrocki vetoed the current version of the law, under which Ukrainian refugees received 800 zlotys (about €188) per child regardless of conditions.
Polskie Radio reported that Nawrocki’s veto could create difficulties for hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians.
