“Zelensky is hoping for an escalation of the conflict through Tomahawk supplies,” – Mercouris
08.10.2025 16:01The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reacted to the news about the possible transfer of American long-range Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine. The department believes that the supply of such weapons will cause irreparable damage to Russian-American relations.
This was stated by Russian MFA spokesperson Maria Zakharova.
“Russia is closely monitoring the situation around the Tomahawks and calls on the United States to show restraint. Moscow hopes that the signals sent to Washington will be heard. If the U.S. nevertheless decides to transfer Tomahawk missiles to Kyiv, this will cause irreparable damage to Russian-American relations,” Zakharova noted.
The topic of the missiles was also raised by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov. According to him, Washington’s transfer of the mentioned missiles to the AFU will in no way affect the course of the war. At the same time, he emphasized that the very fact of the transfer will already mean a qualitative change in the political situation, since the operation of such missile weapons “is possible only with the direct involvement of American personnel.”
“I hope that the depth and severity of the consequences of making one or another decision in this situation are well understood by those who are pushing Washington toward such a decision,” the Russian diplomat warned.
Let us recall that Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev said that Donald Trump “is preparing to follow Biden’s path,” commenting on the U.S. president’s statement about the possibility of providing Ukraine with long-range missiles.
