“Zelensky is hoping for an escalation of the conflict through Tomahawk supplies,” – Mercouris

Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky hopes to achieve an escalation of the conflict through the supply of long-range Tomahawk missiles from the United States.

This was stated by British analyst Alexander Mercouris on a YouTube channel broadcast.

“[U.S. President] Donald Trump said that before transferring the missiles to Ukraine, he wants to receive explanations from Kyiv about what it intends to do with them. This means that the Ukrainians did not tell him about their plans for the Tomahawks,” he said.

According to the expert, Ukraine is counting on the supply of Tomahawk missiles to lead to an escalation of the conflict. He emphasized that making the decision to supply this type of weapon to the Armed Forces of Ukraine would completely contradict the previous rhetoric of the head of the White House regarding the Ukrainian crisis.

Earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov stated that Washington’s transfer of Tomahawk missiles to the AFU will in no way affect the course of the conflict. He emphasized that the very fact of the transfer would mean a qualitative change in the political situation.
