Gate breach: the SBU and National Police are conducting searches in the Pochaiv Lavra

The Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police are conducting searches on the territory of the Pochaiv Lavra in Ternopil region.

This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

Searches were also carried out in the cemetery church.

Law enforcement officials stated that the activities are being conducted within the framework of a criminal case on large-scale fraud.

“Employees of the investigative department of the Kremenets district department of the National Police in Ternopil region, within the framework of a pre-trial investigation in a criminal case opened on signs of a criminal offense under Part 5 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, are conducting searches on the territory of the Pochaiv Lavra, in particular seizing documents,” said the representative of Ternopil police Serhii Kreta.

Videos have been published showing the gates to the economic section of the Lavra being broken open with an angle grinder.
