Moscow is ready for a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump, but there is no clarity yet regarding the timing of the meeting.
This was stated by Yuri Ushakov, an adviser to Russian President Vladimir Putin, in a comment to Kremlin journalist Pavel Zarubin.
“We have a general readiness for a meeting with Trump. Whether it will take place before the New Year is still unknown,” Ushakov said.
Earlier, the White House stated that the meeting between Trump and Putin had not yet been canceled.
Before that, Trump announced that he was postponing the meeting with Putin, saying that the Russian leader was clearly not ready to meet his main condition — to stop the war in Ukraine along the front line.
Putin confirmed Trump’s statement about canceling their planned meeting in Budapest.
“It would be a mistake to approach the Budapest summit without preparation,” the Kremlin leader said, noting that there is no point in talks without prior coordination of positions.
