31.10.2025 05:03The issue of mobilizing women continues to be discussed in Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada.
This was reported by Yurii Zdebskiy, a member of the parliamentary committee on national security, defense, and intelligence.
According to him, men should primarily perform combat duties, while women could replace them in non-combat positions.
“This topic remains constantly in the deputies’ field of attention. Right now, the procedure exists — for women who want to serve, they can go. As I understand the atmosphere in the committee, this issue is not currently on the agenda. Let women do what’s necessary. Women could replace many men — there are specialties where they could take the men’s place, and the men would go to fight. It’s not an urgent matter in the committee yet, but it’s always being monitored. We’re keeping track of the situation, and when it becomes relevant, we’ll make decisions quickly,” Zdebskiy said.
It should be recalled that recently the head of the Council of Reservists of Ukraine’s Ground Forces, Ivan Tymochko, said that women should not “hide behind men’s backs” but serve in the army.
Earlier, Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Pavlo Palisa stated that Ukraine should adopt Israel’s experience, where military service is mandatory for all citizens regardless of gender.
