The High Anti-Corruption Court took a suspect in the energy corruption case into custody

Ukraine’s High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) has remanded Lesia Ustymenko—suspected in the case of businessman Tymur Mindich—into custody for 60 days.

The decision was made at a court hearing.

According to investigators, Ustymenko worked in the “back office” involved in the energy-sector corruption case. The prosecution claims that more than 145 million hryvnias (€2.98 million) were “laundered” with her participation.

Bail for Ustymenko was set at 25 million hryvnias. When the measure was chosen, the prosecutor noted that her husband is a citizen of the Russian Federation.

As a reminder, today Radio Svoboda journalists published the names and photos of all suspects in the Energoatom embezzlement case. Lesia Ustymenko is a private entrepreneur whose primary activity is “market research and public opinion polling.”

In 2023, Ustymenko became the owner of a parking space in a building in central Kyiv where, according to Skhemy(“Schemes”), the very “back office” mentioned in NABU’s investigation is located.

Earlier today, HACC also remanded Mindich case figures Basov and Myroniuk into custody, with the option of bail.
