21.11.2025 - 18:01The private clinic Odrex in Odesa may lose its license, and two of its doctors are under house arrest on suspicion of negligence following a patient’s death. At the same time, the clinic’s lawyers are claiming alleged “pressure on business.”
This is being reported by the media.
A criminal case against the Odrex clinic in Odesa was opened based on an investigation into the death of Ukrainian businessman Adnan Kivan, who was being treated at this medical facility.
A forensic medical examination established a causal link between the patient’s death and the actions of the doctors. In particular, according to the expert findings, they failed to respond properly to signs of complications and did not take timely measures to eliminate them.
The court has frozen the clinic’s corporate rights, and two doctors who were treating the deceased patient have been officially notified that they are suspects.
However, the medical institution’s lawyers disagree with the court’s decision and claim there is “pressure on business” and “raider actions.” This was reported by the lawyer representing the injured party, Oleksandr Dymohlov.
In his view, this is being done to distract attention from the facts of the criminal case.
“Statements about ‘pressure on business’ look not just manipulative — they are an attempt to shift attention from legal reality into the media space. This is a form of defense that has nothing to do with the facts, but is meant to provide an excuse in the eyes of the public and preserve the clinic’s image. This is the right of the defense — but it does not change the essence of the case,” Dymohlov stressed.
The lawyer notes that the deceased man’s family is demanding a fair investigation and that those responsible be held to account, as well as ensuring that such cases never happen again — neither at Odrex nor in any other medical institution in the country.
It should be recalled that Ukraine’s Ministry of Health has also responded to the situation at the Odesa clinic. The regulator is setting up a commission to verify whether the clinic is complying with licensing requirements. If violations are found, its license will be revoked and Odrex’s medical activities will be halted.
As previously reported, against the backdrop of the investigation into the well-known businessman’s death, new facts have begun to emerge about possible negligence at the private Odesa clinic.
