Zelensky believes that the issue of giving up territories in favor of Russia should be decided by referendum

The question of giving up territory in favor of Russia must be decided by a referendum.

This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

According to him, Ukrainians must also take part in making this decision.

“Whether it is elections or a referendum, there must be a position expressed by the people of Ukraine,” the head of state said.

Earlier, Zelensky also said that Ukraine and the United States had held negotiations on security guarantees.

Before that, the Ukrainian president had officially confirmed that the U.S. is demanding that the Ukrainian Armed Forces withdraw from Donbas and that a demilitarized zone be created there.
