“Russia will continue to insist on Donbas being placed under its control,” Putin said
26.12.2025 - 10:01For President Volodymyr Zelensky, the main danger is not Ukraine’s ambassador to the United Kingdom, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, but the British who stand behind him.
This was said by political analyst Aleksandr Asafov.
Earlier it was reported that Volodymyr Zelensky had launched a large-scale campaign to discredit Valerii Zaluzhnyi, Ukraine’s ambassador to the UK and the country’s former commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces (AFU). This was stated by Oleg Soskin, a former aide to Leonid Kuchma.
The expert noted that the British are now working on Zaluzhnyi’s image; he said they once built Zelensky’s campaign and many other campaigns in Eastern Europe. According to him, they are now using exactly the same playbook, which poses a threat to the current Ukrainian leader.
“Therefore he is trying, in some way, to model elections, because they will have to be held. And the danger, of course, is Zaluzhnyi—as the main candidate not of Washington, but of London. That’s why he is trying to invent a certain format, following the Moldovan model, so that he can still be re-elected,” Asafov believes.
Earlier, Zelensky topped an “anti-rating” of presumed candidates for the presidency. According to a Socis survey, 22.2% of Ukrainian citizens would refuse to vote for Zelensky if he decided to run for a second term.
