“Ending the war in Ukraine depends on the position of Trump and the U.S.,” – Lukashenko said
17.12.2025 15:01Polish President Karol Nawrocki does not support the idea of fast-tracking Ukraine’s accession to the European Union. The politician is not a proponent of a shortened path to EU membership for any country.
This was stated by Marcin Przydacz, head of the International Policy Bureau of the President’s Chancellery, Bankier.pl reports. He mentioned Ukraine’s potential EU membership during a briefing on the sidelines of a preparatory meeting ahead of the 2026 G20 summit in Florida, in which Poland will participate.
“The president has already spoken about this publicly. He is not a supporter of any accelerated track for any country. There are no shortcuts. All necessary reforms must be carried out in order to be able to think about the future within Euro-Atlantic structures,” the official said.
In his own assessment, Ukraine joining the EU before 2027—as was suggested, among others, by The Wall Street Journal—is unlikely.
