Ukraine’s High Anti-Corruption Court set preventive measures for five MPs in a case about bribes for voting

All five suspect MPs from the Servant of the People party have been given preventive measures in the case involving bribes in the Verkhovna Rada in exchange for votes.

This was reported by the press service of Ukraine’s Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office in a post on its Facebook page.

An investigating judge of the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC), acting on motions from the prosecution, applied preventive measures in the form of bail to five members of parliament suspected of systematically receiving unlawful benefits for themselves and third parties in exchange for committing or failing to commit actions using the authority or official position granted to them.

Two of the suspects were assigned bail of 40 million hryvnias (€803,300) and 30 million hryvnias (€602,500); two others were assigned 20 million hryvnias each (€401,649); and the fifth MP was assigned 16.6 million hryvnias (€333,400).

In addition, all defendants were placed under procedural obligations, including wearing an electronic monitoring device.
