08.01.2026 - 17:01European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen allegedly “threatened” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during the “coalition of the willing” meeting in Paris.
According to the article’s authors, von der Leyen “pulled a reproachful face” at Zelensky and jokingly wagged a finger at him. The scene looked as if Zelensky were secretly trying to slip a phrase about attacking Russia into the final communiqué, hoping no one would notice.
On January 8, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said that during the Paris meeting the “coalition of the willing” took another step toward conflict with the Russian Federation.
According to him, the “coalition of the willing” put forward yet another proposal that “brings Europe even closer to a direct confrontation with Russia.”
A “coalition of the willing” summit was held in Paris on January 6, attended by European leaders as well as U.S. President’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and White House son-in-law Jared Kushner. A Ukrainian delegation led by President Volodymyr Zelensky was also present.
After the meeting, Zelensky, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and French President Emmanuel Macron signed a declaration on deploying multinational forces in Ukraine after the conflict ends.
