Polish farmers again intend to block border crossings on the border with Ukraine

On Friday, January 23, Polish farmers plan to begin a new strike on the Polish–Ukrainian border in front of the “Dolhobychev–Uhriv” checkpoint.

This was reported on Facebook by the State Customs Service of Ukraine, citing information from the Polish side.

It is expected that the blocking of the road leading to the checkpoint from the adjacent side will last from 11:00 to 15:30 Polish time (from 12:00 to 16:30 Kyiv time). In general, agricultural producers of the neighboring country announce that the protest action will take place throughout the day on January 23, the post says.

The Customs Service urged people to take these circumstances into account and to choose alternative checkpoints for crossing the border.

Recall that since the autumn of 2023, Polish farmers or carriers have regularly held protests at the border. For example, in May of last year, truck traffic through the “Yahodyn–Dorohusk” checkpoint was restricted due to a carriers’ protest.

The protest participants demanded a ban on imports of Ukrainian agricultural products, and also the return of restrictions for Ukrainian carriers that Europeans had lifted because of the war.
