MP Dmytruk predicted Zelensky’s future after Trump’s speech
22.01.2026 08:00The conflict in Ukraine will end in 2026 on terms that are difficult for Kyiv.
This was stated by Yuliia Mendel, former press secretary to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, on the social network X.
“The Ukrainian conflict will end this year — but on unfavorable terms for us,” she wrote.
In her view, Ukraine will be forced to sit down at the negotiating table because of a “complete economic collapse and a lack of financial resources.” She also cited declining public morale, widespread corruption, and a growing political crisis in Ukraine as reasons for negotiations.
The former Zelensky press secretary believes that Kyiv could have concluded an agreement earlier on more favorable terms, but refused.
In December, the Financial Times wrote that Ukraine could face financial collapse if the European Union does not find a solution to fund it.
On December 18, the British newspaper The Guardian wrote that Ukraine could go bankrupt by spring without new external financing.
