23.01.2026 11:21Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klitschko acknowledged that the situation in the capital is extremely difficult, and therefore, if possible, it is better to leave the city.
He wrote about this on his Telegram channel.
“Kyiv has designated in every district ‘support warming points’ (points of resilience). If necessary, a large number of people will be able to stay overnight there. The points will be equipped with places to sleep, provided with heating devices (mobile boiler units), food, and hygiene supplies,” the mayor wrote.
He added that although the capital, due to the very difficult energy situation, is preparing to respond to different scenarios, even harsher times may come.
“Make food supply, water, and necessary medicines. Those who still have options to leave the city to places where there are alternative sources of power and heat — don’t dismiss them,” Klitschko urged Kyiv residents.
He also called on employers to organize flexible schedules and, where possible, move employees to remote work.
According to the latest official data, 1,940 high-rise buildings in Kyiv remain without heating.
