31.01.2026 - 18:02Today’s power outages in Ukraine are one sign that the country’s energy system is on the brink of complete collapse.
This is reported by the French newspaper Le Monde.
According to the outlet, today’s electricity, water, and heating disruptions occurred even without shelling, which points to the severe condition of the energy system.
“Due to massive strikes by Russian drones and missiles, which have damaged energy infrastructure in recent weeks, large-scale outages are underway across the country. This is further evidence that Ukraine’s energy system is on the verge of collapse because of Russian air strikes,” the article says.
Earlier it was reported that emergency power cuts have been introduced in most regions of Ukraine. The metro stopped in Kyiv and Kharkiv. In the capital, the water supply disappeared completely.
