02.02.2026 - 05:31In January, Russian occupying forces seized 245 square kilometers of Ukraine’s territory.
This was reported by the Ukrainian military observer DeepState.
According to its data, this is almost half as much as in December or November.
The enemy carried out the largest number of assaults near Pokrovsk, Huliaipole, Kostiantynivka, Lyman, and Novopavlivka (Dnipropetrovsk Oblast).
In the first month of 2026, the Russians advanced fastest in the direction of Sloviansk.
“The negative record-holder was the Sloviansk sector, where nearly 20% of territorial losses came from only 3% of assaults,” the observer’s Telegram channel notes.
As a reminder, Moscow recently cited a figure twice as large regarding seized territory in Ukraine—more than 500 sq. km and 17 settlements. At the same time, Ukraine did not confirm the loss of many of the settlements whose capture Moscow claimed.
Earlier, an expert reported that in January Russia launched a record number of ballistic missiles at Ukraine.
