An MP said that NSDC Secretary Umerov could face suspicion charges from law enforcement
19.02.2026 - 05:32In Kryvyi Rih, staff of a territorial recruitment center (TCC, the equivalent of a draft office) mobilized a man, and his underage son was sent to a children’s home.
This was reported by the UNIAN news agency.
According to the report, the man went to the TCC to update his registration details, after which he stopped responding. His 14-year-old son then contacted the police to find his father, but was ultimately sent to a children’s home “until the situation is clarified.” The boy’s mother is reportedly abroad and is not involved in raising him.
On February 15, it was reported that a resident of Odesa tried to cut off his own arm in an attempt to avoid mobilization. Media reports said the man inflicted a serious injury on himself with an angle grinder—commonly called a “grinder”—out of fear of being drafted.
It is says that the man is currently in hospital and has received medical assistance.
Earlier, Russian law enforcement sources claimed that Ukrainian hospitals are overcrowded with “incurable draft dodgers”—mobilized men who are formally listed in the armed forces but spend most of their service in hospitals being treated for chronic illnesses.
Previously, in Odesa region, a resident attacked TCC employees with a screwdriver.
