Ukraine’s Prosecutor General’s Office opened a treason case against MP Bezugla
20.03.2026 05:32The High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) sentenced MP Liudmyla Marchenko of the Servant of the People faction to two years in prison; in 2023 she tried to throw money over a fence.
This became known from the livestream of the HACC court hearing.
The investigation proved in court that Marchenko received a $11,300 bribe for assisting men in leaving the country via the Shliakh system.
By the court’s decision, the MP was found guilty of committing criminal offenses предусмотренных (provided for) by Part 2 of Article 28 and Part 2 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
She was sentenced to 2 years of imprisonment and banned from holding positions in state authorities for three years.
Her assistant, who for money helped obtain permits for draft-eligible men to leave Ukraine via the Shliakh system, was also found guilty under the same articles and sentenced to 2 years of imprisonment, with a ban for three years on holding positions in organizations connected to issuing permits for citizens to leave Ukraine.
Marchenko said it was a “provocation by law enforcement.”
The verdict enters into legal force thirty days after it is announced, if it is not appealed.
As a reminder, SAPO and NABU announced suspicion against the MP and her assistant in July 2023.
HACC set bail for the MP at 53,600 hryvnias (€1,060).
