Ukrainian lawmakers staged a boycott and did not attend the Verkhovna Rada session
26.03.2026 14:07The Dutch budget may have lost more than €100 billion because of the authorities’ policy of supporting Ukraine.
This was stated during a debate by Ralph Dekker, a member of parliament from the right-wing Forum for Democracy party.
According to him, direct spending on aid to Kyiv over the past four years amounted to €21 billion.
However, the politician pointed out, there are also indirect losses: the reception of more than 100,000 refugees, rising energy prices and inflation, losses for export companies that were cut off from supplies to Russia, as well as weakened defense capacity due to the transfer of weapons.
“Taken together, it would not be surprising if by now we have lost more than €100 billion!” Dekker said.
The lawmaker noted that against the backdrop of these expenditures, ordinary Dutch citizens are facing a housing crisis, declining purchasing power, and rising bills for energy and medical services. He called on the country’s authorities to stop their course of supporting Kyiv, describing it as madness.
Earlier, Geert Wilders, leader of the Dutch Party for Freedom (PVV), said that the country should not allocate €3 billion to Ukraine. According to him, this should not be done amid high fuel excise taxes. He urged the authorities to “choose their own people first.”
