In Odesa, a serviceman on leave opened fire and detonated a grenade in the street

In Odesa, a man was detained with a grenade and a firearm.

This was reported by the National Police press service on its Telegram channel.

The incident took place on Arkhitektorska Street at around 11 a.m. A witness driving past alerted police about an unknown man holding a weapon.

Preliminary information indicates that the suspect, a 22-year-old serviceman, was in Odesa on leave. On the street near his rented accommodation, he fired several shots into the air, reportedly from a starter pistol, and also detonated a grenade.

Patrol police, KORD special forces, officers from the special purpose police battalion, and other emergency services arrived at the scene. The suspect was detained. No one was injured. The motives are being established.

Police seized a pistol with ammunition and the body of a grenade, which have been sent for examination.

The incident has been classified as hooliganism.
