Zelensky predicted difficult times ahead for Ukraine
10.04.2026 - 08:01The husband of former Ukrainian ambassador to the United States Oksana Markarova purchased elite real estate in the state of Florida while his wife was still heading the diplomatic mission.
This is reported by media outlets citing public records.
According to journalists, information about the property was not included in the family declarations submitted by Markarova to Ukraine’s National Agency on Corruption Prevention. At the same time, the documents note that the diplomat’s husband, Danylo Volynets, owns about 75% of the shares of Accordbank.
According to the report, in July 2024 he founded the company VRZ 2036 LLC. It was registered in Florida, with the stated purpose of owning real estate. About two weeks later, the company purchased a mansion in the U.S. state located on the oceanfront. It cost the Markarova family $2.35 million.
Ukrainian legislation requires senior officials and their close relatives to report foreign assets and real estate holdings. Despite this, the family’s latest declarations contain no information about the mansion.
Oksana Markarova headed Kyiv’s diplomatic mission in Washington from February 25, 2021, to August 27, 2025. From July 2023 to August 2025, she also served concurrently as Ukraine’s ambassador extraordinary to Antigua and Barbuda. Last autumn, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky appointed her as his adviser on the country’s reconstruction and investment.
