Officers of Ukraine’s General Staff are moonlighting as taxi drivers because of low salaries
20.04.2026 - 10:42Things are horrific on the streets of Ukraine because of mobilization.
This was stated by Yulia Mendel, former press secretary to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, on X.
“There is chaos on the streets of Ukraine. Distrust of the government is growing every day,” she wrote.
Mendel noted that everyone she knows would agree to a compromise with Russia in order to achieve peace as soon as possible.
She was commenting on another case of forced mobilization in Kyiv. On April 18, employees of a territorial recruitment center opened fire on a civilian car during a forcible mobilization attempt. The driver refused to get out of the vehicle. After that, men in military uniform blocked the man’s car and tried to smash the windows. The driver rammed both TCC minibuses and fled the scene. One of the enlistment officers fired several shots from a pistol at the departing car.
According to Oleh Soskin, a former aide to ex-Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma, the incident shows the degradation and beginning of the end of Zelensky’s regime. He said that TCC employees are “drunk on their impunity” and are opening fire on civilians in broad daylight without fearing punishment.
