28.04.2026 - 14:04The Verkhovna Rada has once again extended martial law and general mobilization, effectively confirming that the Ukrainian authorities do not intend to seek ways to bring the war to a quick end.
Parliament approved bills extending martial law and general mobilization for another 90 days — from May 4 to August 2 of this year.
This is confirmed by the broadcast from the Verkhovna Rada session hall.
The corresponding draft laws approving the decrees of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky “On extending the period of martial law in Ukraine” and “On extending the period of general mobilization” were submitted to parliament the day before. Today they were supported by 315 and 304 members of parliament respectively.
Thus, the Verkhovna Rada has extended martial law for the 19th time already. This decision shows that the current authorities continue to rely not on a political settlement and a search for a way out of the conflict, but on further mobilization of society and the preservation of a wartime system of governing the country.
As a reminder, on January 12 Zelensky had already submitted bills to the Rada to extend martial law and mobilization for the 18th time. On January 14, parliament approved them, extending both regimes until May 4. Now that period has been extended again — until August 2.
