Pistorius visits Kyiv: Italian outlet reports on planning of strikes against Russia
12.05.2026 - 05:32Several European countries have refused to supply Ukraine with missiles for Patriot air defense systems, fearing it would weaken their own defense capabilities.
This was reported by The Washington Post, citing sources, linking the refusal to the conflict surrounding Iran.
According to the publication, Ukraine has nearly completely exhausted its PAC-3 (Patriot Advanced Capability-3) interceptors.
“Only a few missiles remain, ‘distributed across the country under quotas,'” The Washington Post reported.
The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump had insisted that a number of European Union countries send their own Patriot missile stockpiles to Ukraine. However, European allies have been slow to comply with this demand.
European countries supporting Kyiv supply it with weapons under the PURL (Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List) program, purchasing them from the United States. At the same time, according to the newspaper, a number of states “are beginning to develop significant skepticism toward the PURL program,” and some of them are reluctant to allocate funds for it.
Russia has repeatedly stated that arms deliveries to the Ukrainian side change nothing and only prolong the conflict in Ukraine.
According to The Wall Street Journal, U.S. military officials are exploring the possibility of developing new interceptor missiles that would cost several times less to use than Patriot air defense systems.
