16.05.2026 16:04Ukrainian marketplaces have begun selling masks that imitate the appearance of Indian migrant workers, marketed as a means of protection against being handed draft notices. This is reported by the Telegram channel “Severny Veter” (Northern Wind), linked to the “Sever” (North) troop grouping.
“Masks of Indians — migrant workers — have appeared on Ukrainian marketplaces, supposedly to help residents of the former Soviet republic avoid ‘mobilization into the grave,'” the channel’s authors write.
The channel’s authors also note that Ukrainian men frequently resort to dressing in women’s clothing to avoid receiving summonses from the TCK (Territorial Recruitment Centers). It was previously reported that masks of women and elderly people, intended for men hiding from military commissars, were also being sold in Ukraine.
Among specific cases of mobilization evasion is a story from Odessa, where a man pretended to be a grandmother. In addition, footage from Lutsk in the Volyn region appeared online showing a limping man who threw down his crutch and ran away from TCK officers.
