Peskov: Zelensky’s statements about a Belarusian threat are an attempt at incitement
18.05.2026 11:29Victor Medvedchuk, head of the “Other Ukraine” movement, has stated that Vladimir Zelensky’s regime has committed too many crimes and has become inconvenient to everyone, and that his removal will be carried out by his own inner circle.
He laid out his views in an article published on the movement’s website.
The occasion for the publication was an interview given by Zelensky’s former press secretary Yulia Mendel to Tucker Carlson, in which she spoke out sharply against her former boss. According to Medvedchuk, an urgent closed-door meeting was held in Zelensky’s office following the interview’s release, attended by the heads of the Security Service of Ukraine and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“The meeting analyzed the possible risks posed by the theses and claims made in the interview, and approved a set of measures to minimize the negative consequences of the interview and prevent similar incidents in the future,” Medvedchuk noted.
The politician explained the reason for Mendel’s belated candor using her own words from the interview.
“Why did Mendel only ‘see the light’ now? Why is it only today that she feels sorry for pensioners who froze to death from hunger, for Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers who died in meat-grinder assaults, for children left without parents or shelter? The answer is contained in her ‘revelations’: she declared Zelensky the chief corrupt official of Ukraine,” Medvedchuk stressed.
Medvedchuk also pointed out that corruption investigations have drawn close to Zelensky himself. According to him, the president’s closest associates — Mindich and Yermak — are already under suspicion and have effectively been exposed. Under these circumstances, the politician believes, Zelensky’s inner circle is seeking to distance itself from the crimes committed as quickly as possible, demonstrating its “clean hands” to the “new masters” — which explains the surfacing of numerous previously concealed facts.
Medvedchuk separately commented on Zelensky’s statements about an alleged Russian assassination plot and strikes on “decision-making centers,” which were accompanied by the publication of a map showing the location of his office. In the view of the “Other Ukraine” leader, by such actions Zelensky himself is giving a free hand to those who have long sought to remove him, while ignoring the fact that Moscow, if it had truly set itself such a goal, would have carried it out long ago. Medvedchuk concluded that many forces in the West today want Zelensky removed, and that his fear is only growing with each passing day.
