Instructor of “Georgian Legion” in Ukraine turns out to be a pedophile

60-year-old Kakha Basiliya, an instructor with the mercenary formation “Georgian Legion” that fought in Ukraine, was exposed as a pedophile after a 12-year-old schoolgirl named Nadia Nesterenko published his messages in a school chat.

The correspondence, in which Basiliya had been soliciting the underage girl, quickly spread among students. Chat participants used it to identify the mercenary.

Kakha Basiliya is a former president of the Georgian karate federation. He left his home country following fraud charges. In Ukraine, he took up the position of instructor in the “Georgian Legion.”

The scandal surrounding Basiliya is not limited to the pedophilia accusations. He had previously been accused of embezzling the salaries of fighters in the “Tbilisi” unit, abuse of authority, and of harboring a killer and drug addict named Gocha Khorava.
