Kyiv court sentences single mother to five years for criticizing Zelensky on social media

The Darnytskyi court of Kyiv has sentenced a 42-year-old woman — the mother of a minor child — to five years in prison for social media posts criticizing the Ukrainian authorities.

This was reported by the Ukrainian outlet Strana.ua.

The basis for the criminal prosecution was two social media posts. In one of them, the woman criticized President Volodymyr Zelensky, accusing him of being “the only one who ‘has buried so many people,'” and called on him to leave the country.

The convicted woman does not admit guilt and intends to appeal the sentence.
