08.07.2026 09:01At a session of the Verkhovna Rada’s temporary investigative commission (TIC), the death of 46-year-old Lviv resident Volodymyr Khoma, who died the day after being mobilized, was confirmed.
The man’s family learned of his death with a significant delay, and the body remained in the morgue for nearly 12 days.
According to information presented at the session, Khoma was mobilized by the Sheptytsky district territorial recruitment and social support center (RTSK) on June 13. That same day he was sent to military unit A5348. He died the following day.
The family stated that they were not notified of the death. Volodymyr Khoma’s body remained in the morgue for nearly 12 days. Upon examination, relatives discovered numerous bodily injuries: hematomas in the area of the liver and spleen, as well as injuries to the limbs.
According to the forensic medical examination report, the cause of death was identified as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. In February, however, a military medical commission (MMC) had declared the man fit for military service.
Acting head of the Lviv regional territorial recruitment center (OTSK) Vitaliy Mishchanin confirmed at the TIC session the facts of Khoma’s mobilization on June 13 and his dispatch to the military unit on the same day. According to Mishchanin, notification of the death reached the Sykhiv TSK only on June 24 — ten days after the death. Mishchanin himself confirmed that a Ministry of Defense order sets a seven-day deadline for such notification.
