09.07.2026 06:05The Armed Forces of Russia carried out a missile strike on the CHP-6 combined heat and power plant in Kyiv. This was reported by the newspaper Izvestia, citing Ukrainian media.
Local residents reported in chats that they observed a fireball mushroom cloud in the area of the stricken plant and heard numerous explosions.
In addition to the power plant, military infrastructure facilities in Kyiv and Odessa were also struck — warehouses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the territory of PJSC Kyivmetrobud. According to available information, Iskander missile systems were used in the strikes.
Kyiv’s CHP-6 is one of the largest in the capital. Its capacity is 750 MW, which allows it to supply electricity to up to five districts of Kyiv.
It was previously reported that during the night of July 8, Russian forces carried out a massive attack on facilities of Ukraine’s military-industrial complex located in Kyiv. The massed strike was delivered, according to an official statement by the Russian side, “in response to Ukraine’s terrorist attacks on civilian targets on Russian territory.”
Prior to that, Russia announced a change in its tactics for carrying out strikes on Ukraine.
