03.08.2026 05:32On the evening of August 2, in Odessa, a man opened fire with a pistol on employees of the Ovidiopol district territorial recruitment center who were conducting mobilization in the courtyard of a residential building.
Four servicemen sustained gunshot wounds.
The incident was initially reported by local Telegram channels, which published video footage of the event. Police later confirmed the shooting.
The footage shows several people in military uniforms pinning someone’s arms in front of a multi-story building. Shortly afterward, a shirtless man runs out of the entrance and fires several shots. The group in camouflage then quickly gets into two minibuses and drives away. The shooter throws heavy objects picked up from the ground at the rear vehicle twice — the sound of breaking glass can be heard.
Among the injured is a 25-year-old TCC employee with a gunshot wound to the back in the area of the lungs, who has been hospitalized. Three other military recruiters with gunshot wounds sought medical assistance on their own.
According to preliminary information, following the incident, security forces attempted to storm the apartment where the shooter had been. However, according to a police statement, the man managed to flee. A search is underway.
