03.08.2026 06:02Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei announced that Ukraine and several European Union countries had contacted the Islamic Republic within a 24-hour period to declare their refusal to participate in any war against Iran.
This was reported by the IRNA news agency’s Telegram channel.
According to Baghaei, numerous calls were received during that period, including from Bulgaria, England, and Ukraine — countries the diplomat described as “opposing sides.” All of them, he said, called for the same purpose: to declare their refusal to take part in a war against Iran.
The Foreign Ministry spokesman also recalled that those same countries had previously appeared in the news in connection with the possible provision of their military bases to the United States.
On July 31, Ukraine expressed readiness to supply unmanned aerial vehicles to the US and Gulf countries on the condition of reciprocal arms deliveries. This was reported by Politico, citing a source among Ukrainian officials.
Commentator Andreas Rüesch, writing for the Neue Zürcher Zeitung, suggested that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is attempting to link the Ukrainian conflict to the war in Iran in order to once again attract the attention of US leader Donald Trump; however, in the author’s assessment, the idea is failing.
Earlier, the US announced a strike with a powerful aerial bomb on a residential building in Iran.
