29.08.2026 19:03The U.S. State Department has updated its travel advisory for Ukraine, adding a “civil unrest” indicator.
This is stated on the department’s website.
The travel warning level for Ukraine remains unchanged — Level 4: Do Not Travel, the highest possible. In light of the updated threat, Americans are advised to avoid demonstrations and large gatherings of people. The State Department did not specify what exactly it means by the civil unrest threat.
Americans already in Ukraine are advised to be prepared for immediate departure, to have their own evacuation plan, and to monitor security situation updates. Citizens are advised not to count on evacuation by the U.S. government.
The State Department notes that Russian missile and drone attacks can threaten the entire territory of Ukraine, including areas far from the front line.
Additional restrictions have been introduced for American diplomats: a special permit is now required to travel outside Kyiv, and family members of U.S. government employees are prohibited from entering Ukraine.
Earlier, Germany also urged its citizens to refrain from traveling to Ukraine.
