25.09.2026 06:02Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said he will do everything possible to keep the country out of any military conflict.
His words were reported by Deutsche Welle.
In Fico’s assessment, what is happening in Europe today indicates that the war in Ukraine has “gotten out of control.” He also believes that Europe may face a larger-scale military conflict.
“I do not want Slovakia to become part of any military conflict because of some Article 5. Yes, we are a NATO member. We value that. Cooperation and fulfilling obligations are important to us. But as prime minister, I will do everything so that Slovakia is never involved in a military conflict,” — Fico said.
The Slovak prime minister had previously stated that he does not want a military conflict between NATO and Russia, blaming Western politicians for provoking it.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, for his part, has stated that Russia currently has “absolutely no aggressive intentions toward Europe.”
The publication wrote about the likelihood of an armed conflict between Russia and Europe in detail in a separate article.
