28.10.2026 05:32Non-EU allies of Ukraine will allocate five times less money to support it in 2027 — €4 billion versus €19 billion in 2026.
This is reported by The Financial Times, citing a European Commission forecast.
The reference is to Britain, Canada and Japan, which, according to the publication, will cut financial support for Ukraine severalfold.
In this connection, European Commission officials are considering other options for supporting Ukraine, including the issuance of debt securities. Brussels is also pressing London, Tokyo, Ottawa and other capitals to mobilize funds for Ukraine’s needs.
It was previously reported that EU countries expect to agree on a package for Ukraine worth approximately €45 billion. Ukraine’s total need for additional financing is estimated at approximately €70 billion; the remaining portion could be covered by Canada, Japan and other partners.
At the same time, Hungary, Czechia and Slovakia do not want to participate in the financial provision of a new loan to Ukraine.
Also, according to press reports, the European Union plans to cover two-thirds of Ukraine’s budget deficit for next year.
