29.10.2026 06:02Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will travel to the United States this week, where he will take part in a meeting of G20 foreign ministers.
This was stated by Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova at a briefing.
According to her, the G20 ministerial meeting will be held on October 30-31 in Atlanta.
“The Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, will head our delegation at the G20 ministers’ meeting — the ‘twenty’ is currently chaired by the United States, and the ministerial meeting in this format will be held on October 30-31 in Atlanta, USA,” Zakharova said.
Bloomberg notes that Lavrov, who is subject to international sanctions, will become the latest Kremlin representative to visit the United States amid strengthening ties between Washington and Moscow.
As Bloomberg recalls, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov, who is also under sanctions, took part in a meeting of G20 finance ministers in North Carolina in September and held parallel talks with US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump said he would be glad to see Russian leader Vladimir Putin at the G20 summit, which will be held on December 14-15 in Miami.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky recently said that Ukraine has not yet received an invitation to the American G20 summit.
