This was reported by the press service of the Ternopil regional police.
According to law enforcement, the man’s body was found on the premises of the recruitment center. Preliminary information indicates he died by suicide using a firearm.
The head of the Ternopil regional police, Serhiy Zyubanenko, published video footage from the military commissariat capturing the circumstances of the incident. The recording shows the man entering one of the center’s rooms accompanied by servicemen and in the presence of civilians, leaving a bag with personal belongings in the corridor, and heading to the restroom with a backpack. A few seconds later, a gunshot is heard from inside. The servicemen react calmly, though with visible alertness.
During an inspection of the restroom, law enforcement officers found that the backpack had been opened and its contents removed.
Zyubanenko said investigators will examine all details of the incident from the moment the man arrived at the recruitment center.
It was previously reported that last year a mobilized man slashed his wrists at a recruitment center in the capital.
